SCCL BUSINESS RUNS ON SAP
    

Any Enterprise requires resources like Men,Material, and Money etc which have to be managed effectively for efficiency.

    

ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) is single software which can process all business related transactions in an integrated fashion.

    

Thus, it helps in effectively managing the resources.

Genesis of ERP in SCCL

    

A much planned and carefully evaluated decision.

    

The seed was sown on 29th April 2005 in the Directors meeting.

LATER

    

Committee was constituted to explore the need and suitability of ERP in SCCL

    

Meetings ,Interactions, Workshops, Discussions were organized within and outside the organization with HODs, subject experts, Vendors, major organizations which have implemented ERP etc

    

Finally on 28th June 2007, it was approved to implement ERP package developed by SAP, to address the Information needs of SCCL.

    

SAP is leading ERP package worldwide, also implemented by organizations like ONGC, NTPC, IOCL, APDisComs etc

Project Scope

    

After completion of training etc the work on implementation started wef 3rd December 2007, in which around 35 persons from SCCL and 40 persons from SAP/Partners were deployed full time on the Project, in addition to the periodical reviews/ inputs given by Directors and HODs.

    

The modules taken for implementation are Purchase, Stores, Marketing, Dispatches, Payroll with related HR, Finance

    

Implemented Marketing / Dispatches with related Finance across the company covering all weigh bridges, Hyderabad Marketing office on 1st July 2008 (00:00hrs).

    

So also Purchase and stores with related Finance at Corporate Purchase, Hyd purchase, KGM area and stores of KGM area on 1st July.

    

Payroll with related Finance for all employees of the company wef August 2008 payroll

    

Subsequently all areas of SCCL will be covered so that by end of March 2009, all areas of SCCL will be doing transaction in SAP pertaining to above modules.

Project Cost & Benefits

    

The cost of the project is around Rs 20 crores

Integration of information generated by various departments, with entry of data at source of generation, and that to only once, then subsequent use of this data by other related/cross functional requirements.

Improvement in Manpower Productivity/ Right Sizing

    

Quicker Customers accounts settlement

    

Quicker Sales realization/faster billing

    

Transparency in coal dispatches, integration with dispatch plan and coal allotment data.

    

Better HR management – centralization of EPR data/payroll processing

    

Mid month payments for employees, if required

    

Improved DSS (Decision Support System) leading to lesser cost of production.
