The accredited functions and objectives of the department “Powerhouses and Workshops” are to primarily support the Mining activities of the company, which are achieved by

Reliable quality power supply to Coal Mines, Departments and Colonies through generation, transmission and distribution.

Receiving distribution of power from Captive Plants and A.P.TRANSCO / N.P.DISCOM.

Planning, implementation and monitoring of Energy Conservation measures

Manufacturing, erection, maintenance and repair activities at Workshops.

Implementation of transport policy of the company, Maintenance and repair of Fleet of transport vehicles, material handling equipment.

The Department is headed by Chief General Manager [E&M] who reports to Director [E&M].

CGM [E&M] is assisted by two Dy.General Managers [E&M] in the functioning of the Department.
The following departments are under direct administrative control of CGM [E&M].
1. Auto and Transport Department headed by an Addl. General Manager[E&M]
2. Main Workshop, Kothagudem, headed by a Dy. General Manager[E&M]
3. ‘B’ Powerhouse, Kothagudem, headed by a Dy. Supdt. Engineer [E&M].

All area Workshops, Area Auto Workshops, 18MW Powerhouse, GDK, 132KV Sub-stations at Kothagudem, Godavarikhani, Mandamarri and Manuguru are under technical control of CGM [E&M].

Chief G.M [E&M] coordinates

1. Technical activities in all Workshops, Auto Workshops, and 132KV Sub-stations.

2. Power system in SCCL leased areas in all 3 regions.
3. Energy conservation activities.
4. Captive generation.

5. Liaison with N.P.DISCOM / A.P.TRANSCO for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to SCCL Mines, Townships.

6. Operations of Anti Power Theft Squad to control illegal power tappings.

7. Preparation of Technical specifications for Plant & Machinery and spares pertaining to Powerhouses, T&D network, Sub stations, Workshops.

8. Technical Evaluation of Purchase Tenders of Equipment and Spares pertaining to Power System and Workshops and all general items.
