Civil Engineering Department in SCCL is connected with Civil Works right from mine opening to dispatch of Coal.The Major activities are summarized below:

Mine Development Works

All developmental activities connected to both OCP’s and UG Mines are taken up.

Initially approach roads are laid, Power lines grouting, water supply arrangement, Open excavation, Arching, Infrastructural facilities like Pit- Head Coal handling arrangements, storage Magazines, Filter Beds, Offices, etc., are taken up.

Day to Day requirements are attended for smooth running / production activities at Mines.

Similarly for OC’s heavy sheds for HEMM, haul Roads, Pit Head coal handling arrangements, Unit work shops, storage magazines, Offices are executed.

Approach road Koyagudem Open Cast (Yellandu) is in progress. Further flood protection Bund for Medapalli for OC, Phase - I is completed and Phase. II is in progress.

The works for open excavation C.C arching and driving incline etc., for opening new mines, namely, KTK-7, KTK-8, KTK-8A at Bhoopalpally are in progress.

1.3. Water Supply Schemes:

All the company’s quarters are provided with individual taps

In addition 4564No.s Community taps are provided in Company’s areas.

Major Water Supply Schemes with River Godavari as source are in Operation for Bellampalli Region, Ramagundam Region and Manuguru Area of Kothagudem Region.

Clariflocculators are commissioned at Manuguru and construction of Rapid Gravity Filters is in process for Manuguru

Water supply and Distribution to townships and Mines are maintained.

For Kothagudem Mine water is being supplied at present. Public Health Department has completed Kinnerasani Water Supply Scheme for Kothagudem Town for which S.C.C.L has contributed Rs.2.00 Crores (paid so far Rs.1.75 Crores). Arrangements to draw Kinnerasani Water for supply to S.C.C.L are in progress. The unit rate of drawl is to be decided by Government.

Railway Sidings

Railway sidings for Coal Transport are presently maintained by Civil Department. Till 1992 Railways were maintaining the Private sidings also, later Maintenance of Private sidings is entrusted to S.C.C.L. These works need day to day monitoring for smooth despatch of coal. SCCL has a total of 101.40 KM of Railway sidings out of which 36.175 KM are assisted and 65.223 KM are Private sidings.

Roads

All the colony / Township Roads and Coal Transport Roads are being laid and maintained by Civil Engineering Department

For Roads connecting to mines and CSPs assistance from Coal Conservation Development Advisory Committee (CCDAC) is obtained, so far we have drawn Rs.1618.00 Lakhs and claims for another Rs.83.00 Lakhs are in progress. Recently works to a tune of Rs.1200.00 Lakhs are approved for Assistance by CCDAC at Bhoopalpally
